RESEARCH
My artwork is enabled by emerging technologies. As such, each piece requires its
own line of research. Thus far, I can organize my interests into the following
categories: microprocessor control (encompassing motion control and
dynamic lighting), computer-aided fabrication, and human/computer
interaction.
I find these technologies interesting precisely because they are new and
have yet to be fully explored. My role as an artist is to subvert and/or question
established ideas. With new media, even the established use has yet to be defined.
Though my ideas often begin as an examination of technology, my work tends to take
form as sculpture. In addition to digital methods, a portion of my research is
reserved for traditional object-making skills.
