FRAKTUR / 2005
Randomly looping DVD
duration variable
Fraktur is a looping DVD featuring footage of broken LED signage.
In keeping with my interest in the mechanics of communication, Fraktur
directs the eye towards the physical aspect of the letterform. At this
decontextualizing level of focus, one can find accidental details (such
as those resulting from malfunction) that add meaning as well as subtract
it. Through the aestheticization of the letter, the work asks if some
fundamental content remains even in the absence of narrative.
